Weekly Recap (And CRIMSON SKY cover reveal!)

Last week was a busy one! Between the Real Job, author spotlights, and emailing, I was just beginning to catch up! But thankfully, I managed to get a few things crossed off my list:

  • More promotion/review requests for Crimson Sky
  • Complete editing for Hunt of the Gods(it's over halfway and NaNoWriModelayed me)
  • Continue writing Storm of the Gods
  • Request covers and editing schedules for Storm Bornand Damnation's Door (the final Cursed novel)
  • First round of edits for Storm Born
  • Read over and do minor edits for Damnation's Door

I'm fortunate enough to have not only Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off, but an additional three days after that. While I intend to spend a lot of time with my family, I would be lying if I said I'm not going to be editing up a storm. Since Storm Born and Damnation's Door (the third and final Cursed novel) are now scheduled for releases in May and June respectively, it's high time that I get to work on them. Those deadlines sure know how to creep up quickly! So bearing that in mind, here's what I'm planning to work on this week between the holidays:

  • Set up pre-orders and proof copies for Crimson Sky
  • Continue writing Storm of the Gods
  • First round of edits for Storm Born
  • Read over and do minor edits for Damnation's Door

Lots to cover in a seemingly short time, but I'm ready for it. To be honest, it will be nice to read over both new novels with fresh eyes and figure out where to go from there. Since Thursday is Christmas Eve, I won't be doing a blog post, though I should be back on Boxing Day to do a review. However, I do have one thing I would like to share for the holidays. If you read yesterday's 8Sunday post, you know what it is. If not, well, you are in for a treat. The miracle workers at Deranged Doctor Design have done it again, and I am thrilled to share the cover of the first novel in my upcoming steampunk/horror/fantasy series, Dark Sky. Here's the artwork– and the official synopsis– for Crimson Sky!

They’re always watching. They’re always waiting. They’re always starving…

Ten years ago, the sky shattered and the Hellions emerged. No one was able to keep them from destroying the city of Westraven. Now that the bloodthirsty monsters rule the skies and have forced the few remaining humans underground, Claire Abernathy lives in a nightmare. She survives by using her skills as an engineer for a ruthless tyrant connected to her mother and father’s past failure.

Then Claire’s world is torn apart when her sister Abby is kidnapped by the Hellions, and Claire herself is taken by dangerous sky pirates known as marauders. But Claire will not be intimidated by them while her sister’s life hangs by a thread, and so she strikes a deal with them: If they help rescue Abby, she will fix their ship and give them the chance to take the revenge they desperately seek.

As Claire fights for her sister’s life, she begins to realize that the Hellions are not the only dangers she’ll face. Burdensome secrets and devastating betrayals threaten her at every turn, and if she loses herself to them, it won’t just be her life that is destroyed…

I'm super excited about this release, which is scheduled for February 2, 2016. I'll be setting up promotions, media kits, and pre-orders soon, and I think a lot of readers will enjoy the novel. I've heard promising things so far, and who doesn't wonder what will happen when you combine vampiric mythology with sky pirates?

I've got a lot of work ahead of me, but honestly, I'm looking forward to it all. My entire writing/release schedule is booked for 2016, and I'm sure that in the new year I'll be planning for 2017. I think I'm getting the hang of this author thing, and I'm absolutely thrilled to release a new trilogy, which will also include two prequel novellas. All in all, I've got six books scheduled for 2016. Good thing I liked to keep busy!

I hope that everyone has a fantastic holiday season. I'm definitely looking forward to mine. Happy holidays!
